JV-LinkDirectory has now integrated K2 into it's functionality in a couple of ways:
Integration #1: Create K2 Item for New Link in DirectoryWhenever a new listing is published in the directory, JV-LD can be configured to create a K2 item for it in a given category. This is done by JV-LD with a plugin called "JV-LinkDirectory - Joomla/K2 Article Creation Plugin". The following parameters can be configured in this plugin:
1. Default author for the item
2. Decide if the item needs to be set as "Featured"
3. Number of characters of listing description to be included as K2 item description
4. Choose to include the thumbnail of the listing website or a random photo of the listing
5. Meta keywords of tags of the listings can also be configured to be added as K2 Tags for the item created.
This integration can be used for creating/updating a blog or a news category in your Joomla website whenever new listings are added. K2 also provides numerous extensions or features on the social media front using K2 item creation trigger which can be utilized for notifying customers about the listing.
Integration #2: Related K2 Items in DirectoryJV-LinkDirectory listings and categories have meta keywords or tags configured for them. JV-LD when configured to show related items, will match the keywords/tags of the listing/category with K2 items, and will display the related K2 items in listing/category pages under related articles tab.
The related articles tab is intended to be used to link k2 items with directory listings. You can create blog posts or articles in your site with keywords usign K2, and then attach same keywords for the corresponding listings in the directory. This helps improve internal linking. This also helps you create a directory that is not just full of listings, but that which provides more info in articles for those listings.
Another way to use it, is to mimic the categories setup of article manager or k2 item manager in your JV-LD directory with keywords and then create listings for important links that you have in those articles.
