B2J Alfheim Image Gallery PRO

B2J Alfheim Image Gallery PRO

Published in Extensions
The fully responsive Bang2Joom Alfheim Image Gallery PRO module takes the power of the LITE version, with some attractive additions. The user not only has a tight control over the flow of images filtered by K2 tags, but has additional options to choose in how these images appear to the viewer. This module is fully functional with Joomla versions 2.5 and 3.0.

This PRO version, like the LITE version, is very simple and effective, with super-easy installation and use! You may choose the images to be inherited from K2 items, K2 tags or even a custom folder on your server.

Images can be cropped and resized, with or without aspect ratio. The module comes default with jquery-plugin enabled, but this can be disabled in the backend.

Bang2Joom Alfheim Image Gallery PRO inherits the following popular features from the LITE version:
  • Image Source: K2 Categories, K2 Tags, Joomla Folder
  • Thumbnails setting
  • Slider settings
  • Item parts ordering, etc.

What makes this module PRO is how the images appear to the user. On image click, it opens the original image in a light box with all thumnails beneath it. They take the appearance of a bunch of photos allowing you to flip or swipe through them as you would in real life. The flipping effect looks like ebay's iPad application and can be used on all platforms, with amazing effect on touchscreens.

Adminstrators also have the additinoal option to choose the way the module displays the image tags - either with Tag Cloud or Tag Slider. Images can also be shared to the major social networking sites.

Bang2Joom Alfheim Image Gallery PRO has got the following basic features:
  • Easily customizable
  • Multi-browser functionality
  • Fully compatible with Joomla! 2.5 / 3.0
  • Image swipe effect for touchscreens
  • Sharing to Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pintrest
  • Responsive layout
B2J Alfheim Image Gallery PRO is everything you ever wanted in an Image Gallery module for K2! More

Whizzy Tags for K2

Whizzy Tags for K2

Whizzy Tags for K2 articles is based on the popular Joomulus for K2 module by JoomlaBear. It creates a jquery-driven tag cloud based on tags from a selected K2 category, which also allows you to specify the link, weight and colour of the tags.

Note this extension does not use flash, and it currently only allows the selection of ONE CATEGORY.

It also creates a search engine friendly list of tags, which is displayed in the event that jquery is not available in the browser.

If you're using Joomla! articles, please check out our Joomla! articles version which you'll find under the category of Search & Indexing>Tags & Clouds on the JED. More

29 October 2011
Published in Tips & Tricks
Have you ever wondered how you could tell which of your K2 Items had tags added to them?
Well, in this guide, we are going to show you have you can easily add this functionality without have to modify any core K2 files, but could also be added as acore fix.
Try this out, post you comments and maybe we could see this as a standard K2 feature.

The New Edit Item Layout
k2joom-tagsinadminWouldn't it be great if you could look at your K2 Item List in the Admin area and instantly see which Items had Tags on them and which did not so that you could then go and add those missing tags.
How about being able to see all the tags that are used in you K2 Item, also lists out as well, if that sounds untersting to you, then read on.
In the screen shot, can see those exact changes.
  1. A Tags Used column is displayed, with Green ticks if there are tags, and a Red cross if there are none.
  2. Under the Item Title, you can see that Tags have are displayed as weel.  Each tag is linked to the Tag Editor.
Lets find out how we can get this added.
Setup Procedure

We have made this even easier for you now as our download includes the folders that the previous guide asked you to create, follow the revised guide below.
  1. Download the zip file. (from k2joom.com, requires registration)
  2. Upload/Extract to administrator/templates/YOURTEMPLATE/html/
  3. Login to your sites Joomla admin, navigate to the K2 Items List and you will see this new tag information.

If you plan to change your Joomla Administrator template, then you need to copy the default.php file to the new Joomla Template folder

Hope find this useful, comments greatly received.

Many thanks to:
Claire Mandville for the Idea.
