K2 v2.5.5 up next - now supported by 52 language translation teams!

I'll keep this short... Although we kept the version numbering inside the 2.5.x series, 2.5.5 brings some new uber-cool features:
  • Smart Search integration for Joomla! 2.5
  • integration with anti-spam service StopForumSpam.com to stop real, human spam - available upon user sign up and for flagging spammers in comments
  • native support for jUpgrade (both versions) makes upgrading a Joomla! 1.5 site to 2.5 a piece of cake
  • integration with the Joomla! updater (v1.7+). Using the built-in extension updater in Joomla! you can check if there's a new K2 release and instantly apply the update
  • Community Builder integration for user profiles/pages
  • the K2 Media Manager has been upgraded and now supports image resizing as well! Just drag and drop images from your desktop inside the K2 Media Manager to upload them on your server, then resize and use them anywhere in your Joomla! site. The K2 Media Manager, already a full Joomla! media manager replacement, just got better!
  • (new) Added support for Falang, the JoomFish fork currently working on Joomla! 1.7 & 2.5 (JoomFish is not yet ready publicly for J2.5 - but that will come soon).
I'm also very proud to announce the the translation teams working on K2 language packs are now 52! Congratulations to all contributors and very big thank you from the K2 team! If you want to track the progress of translations or create a new transation team or join an existing one, check out the K2 project page on Transifex.

K2 version 2.5.5 will be released next week on Friday, March 2nd March 7th 2012. Sorry for the sort delay folks but we decided to add a couple of new features in this release.

JoomlaWorks is developing and supporting some of the most respected and popular extensions in the Joomla! community, including the groundbreaking K2, AllVideos, Simple Image Gallery and Frontpage Slideshow.

Since 2006 we have developed more than 26 extensions for the Joomla! CMS, all of which have been used in hundreds of thousands of Joomla! sites across the world.

Mid 2011, our extensions had been downloaded more that 4.5 million times, out of which AllVideos and Simple Image Gallery had more than 1.5 million downloads each and K2 more than 500,000!

Innovation and the open source philosophy are the two things that motivate us!

  • Chinese Pictures Chinese Pictures I hope next release will enhance K2 image management.
My picture site installed k2 and when I upload a photo, k2 will automaticly generates another 6 files in media/k2/items/cache. In the end, I have a lot of pictures I don't need.

  • Mike28 Mike28 My apologies for the spam but I really like the 2 comment tabs on this page, the first as usual and the second which integrates facebook comments.

Can somebody please post the names of the modules which I have to use to implement this 2-tab comment mode in K2? Free or not I don't mind.

    Thank you in advance!

  • VietPublic VietPublic I have some suggestions for next version
    1. Create an index.php file when creating a new folder in K2 Media Manager
    2. When I set Tagging system to Selection-based tagging, can you sort asc Available tags and Selected tags please !
I can edit your code to resolve that issue but when upgrade to next ver will overwrite old source.

    Thank K2 team !

  • Igor Mihaljko Igor Mihaljko When do you plan to extend K2 tools module so the archive function would pull articles from main category and all of it's subcategories?

This is something that lots of people are asking for and are waiting for a long time
